How we assessed it
We synthesized this
The ASUS RT-BE88U is a router built to stay ahead of your internet, not just keep up with it. Dual 10-gigabit wired ports plus WiFi 7 mean a gigabit-plus plan, a wired gaming rig, and a NAS all have headroom, and it's mesh compatible when you want to extend coverage later. It's the pick for power users and busy home networks who want to wire in fast devices and future-proof the setup.
The honest trade-off: that capability comes with an advanced feature set and settings menu more involved than basic home use needs, and the headline WiFi 7 and multi-gig speeds only arrive if your devices and internet plan can match them — older gear and slower plans won't see those rates. Our read synthesizes ASUS' documented specs and the RT line's reputation with power users rather than a hands-on throughput test.
